How It Works

From appointment reminder to front door — we handle the rest.

Three steps is all it takes. No app download. No surge pricing. No strangers.

01
📅

Your Appointment, Our Trigger

When your LC appointment is confirmed, your care team flags transportation need. A coordinator schedules your ride and sends you an SMS confirmation — no action required on your part.

02
🚗

A Verified LC Employee Arrives

Your driver is a credentialed LC employee — not a gig worker. They know LC's clinic network, carry proper clearances, and are trained to assist patients with mobility, language, or accessibility needs.

03
🩺

You Focus on Your Health

Arrive on time, cared for, and calm. After your visit, your return ride is already coordinated. The coordinator dashboard tracks your ride in real time — your clinical team sees your ETA before you do.

The LC Difference

These aren't random drivers.
They are part of your care team.

When you call Uber Health or a gig-based NEMT service, you get whoever is available. When you call LC Transport, you get a Lexington Clinic employee — background-cleared, HIPAA-certified, CPR-current, and accountable to the same organization treating you.

🔐

HIPAA Certification Required

Every LC Transport driver completes formal HIPAA training. Your health conversations in that vehicle are protected — legally and professionally.

🛡️

Full Background Clearance

Same background clearance standards applied to clinical staff. No exceptions, no shortcuts — because your safety extends beyond the exam room.

❤️

CPR-Certified, Every Driver

Gig platforms don't require CPR. We do. Because your condition doesn't stop at our door, and neither does our responsibility.

Live Ride Map

All active and scheduled rides plotted across the full LC network. Coordinators see driver location, ETA, and clinic destination in one view.

💬

Automated SMS Coordination

Patients receive automatic confirmation, driver details, and ETA updates via text — no app download required. Built-in two-way messaging for last-minute changes.

One-Click Dispatch

Coordinator selects a ride, clicks dispatch, and the driver assignment and patient SMS fire simultaneously. Ride status updates in real time across the dashboard.

🏥

Full LC Network Coverage

Every Lexington Clinic location — from South Broadway to Frankfort to Richmond — pre-loaded and mapped. Rural patients served without premium uplift.

Accessibility-Ready Dispatch

Wheelchair-accessible vehicles, interpreter coordination, and oxygen transport flagged at scheduling and communicated to drivers before pickup.

Patient & Provider Voices

What patients — and the people who care for them — are saying.

★★★★★

I was missing appointments because I just couldn't get there. My daughter works and I don't drive anymore. LC Transport changed that. The driver knew exactly where to take me and even walked me inside.

As a referring provider, transportation barriers are one of the first things that derails a care plan. Knowing LC has an in-house transport option — with credentialed drivers — removes a variable I used to just accept as unavoidable.

My patient has stage 3 COPD and lives alone in Richmond. Before LC Transport, we were rescheduling him constantly. Now he makes every appointment. That's not a small thing — that's his disease management.

The Missed Appointment Crisis: Why 30% of No-Shows Have Nothing to Do With Commitment

National data is consistent: roughly three in ten missed appointments trace back to transportation — not forgetfulness, not disengagement. For patients managing chronic illness across multiple LC specialties, a single missed connection can cascade across an entire care plan. The fix isn't more reminder calls.

Why We Use LC Employees — Not Contractors — and Why It Matters for Your Patients

When a gig driver transports your patient, they operate outside your organization's accountability structure. No HIPAA obligation. No CPR requirement. No knowledge of your clinic network. LC Transport was built on a different premise: the driver is an employee, and your patient deserves the same standards in the car that they receive in the exam room.

Rural Access

Versailles. Richmond. Frankfort. Why Expanding LC Transport Beyond Lexington Changes the Equation

Lexington Clinic now serves patients from Woodford County, Madison County, and Franklin County — markets where transportation infrastructure is thinner and ride times are longer. As LC extends its network into Versailles, Richmond, and Frankfort, the transport program follows. These aren't edge cases; they're the patients most likely to miss care without direct intervention.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers for patients, families, and referring providers.

Who qualifies for LC Transport?
Any established Lexington Clinic patient with a scheduled appointment who has a documented transportation barrier. Your care team can initiate a transport request on your behalf, or you can call our coordination line directly at (859) 258-4000.
Are the drivers actual Lexington Clinic employees?
Yes. Every LC Transport driver is an employed member of the Lexington Clinic team — not a contractor or gig worker. They hold the same background clearances, HIPAA training, and CPR certifications required of clinical support staff.
What is the cost to patients?
Transport costs vary by distance and vehicle type. Many rides are covered or partially covered through Medicaid transportation benefits, employer programs, or financial assistance. Our coordination team will work through eligibility with you before your first ride.
Do you serve patients outside of Lexington?
Yes. LC Transport covers all Lexington Clinic locations including our clinics in Frankfort, Georgetown, Nicholasville, Richmond, Versailles, Mt. Sterling, Paris, and Cynthiana. Rural patients — including those 50+ miles out — are eligible and frequently served.
Can the driver assist me getting in and out of the vehicle?
Yes. All drivers are trained to assist patients with mobility limitations. Wheelchair-accessible vehicles are available with advance notice. If you have specific accessibility needs, note them when scheduling and we will match the appropriate vehicle and driver.
Can I request the same driver for future appointments?
We accommodate driver preferences when scheduling allows. Patients with ongoing treatment plans — such as those in chemotherapy or dialysis — are often paired with a consistent driver to build familiarity and routine.
How are my rides tracked and who can see my information?
Ride tracking is visible only to authorized LC Transport coordinators and your direct care team. All data handling is subject to LC's HIPAA compliance policies. No patient information is shared with third-party platforms.
As a referring provider, how do I request transport for a patient?
LC providers can initiate a transport request through the coordinator dashboard or by contacting the LC Transport coordination line. Requests can be submitted at the time of scheduling, and the patient receives automatic SMS confirmation once the ride is assigned.
